I created a path for my cut line, but it's not working. What's wrong?
Your cut line must be a stroke, not a filled path, compound path, or shape. Our automated cutting system specifically reads strokes with the spot color "ExactCut" to generate cutting instructions.
For precise control over your cut path, follow these requirements:
What TO DO:
-
Create a separate top layer named "ExactCut" containing ONLY your cut path.
- Apply a spot color stroke named exactly "ExactCut" (case-sensitive).
- Set stroke to 1pt with NO fill color.
- Ensure your path is closed and represents the exact cutting line you want.
- Remove paths or art outside the artboard to avoid issues processing your file.
- Before uploading, double verify that you are not missing any areas that you want cut
What NOT TO DO:
Do not use Effects(fx):
-
No offset path effects
- No Transform or Distort effects
- No Drop Shadows or other appearance effects
If you've used any effects, expand them first(Object > Expand Appearance)
Do not use compound stokes:
-
No multiple strokes on the same path
- No stroke alignment set to "outside" or "inside" (keep centered)
- No stroke profiles or variable width strokes
Do not use non-standard path types:
-
No clipping masks as cut paths
- No live paint objects
- No pattern or gradient strokes
