Understanding Gator Board Sign
Options
Black
The Black option is great for Foam Board. For a professional look, we use a black polystyrene foam core covered with clay-coated black paper on one side and glossy vinyl decal film material on the other. Your image will be printed on the side with the vinyl decal film.
2-Sided
With the 2-Sided option, designs will be printed on both sides of the strong materials with a build in block out feature to ensure durability and full opacity blocking the design from seeing through from other side. For 2 sided banners, we use 18 oz heavy weighted vinyl. Keep in mind: If the design contains an arrow element, be aware the front and back must have different files with the arrow flipped to show opposite arrows in each file.
Grommets: Top Corners

The Grommets option places #2 silver nickel grommets in the top corners of the sign.

Tip: To avoid being cut off, please design away from the 1 inch of outer edges.

These signs can be printed and shipped quickly, and are built to last for a variety of uses. Custom gator board signs are one of the strongest foam board print options available, so you get high quality printing with the versatility to display these signs wherever you need.

Gator print offers:

  • Vibrant colors so your sign stands out and captures customers’ attention
  • Crisp graphics to represent your brand well
  • Durability and strength for all types of display options
  • Sleek design options, including black foam core and backing for a more professional look

How to Display Gatorboard Signs

You can hang gator signs with everyday materials like screws and nails, or use a strong adhesive bonding glue to mount it to a flat surface. You can also display short-term or temporary gator signs on a stand or easel.

For long-term indoor displays, you can choose to frame gator board signs to make them look professional and prevent dings and dents around the edges.

For Gator Board Sign

Why Choose Gator Signs

Gator board (sometimes written as gatorboard signs or gatorboards) is sometimes confused with other printed sign options, such as foam core and PVC. These three options do have some key differences, and certain materials are better for specific situations.

The Perfect Durability of Gatorboard

The main differentiator between these three types of printed signs is durability. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is a hard plastic material that works for medium- and longer-term outdoor and indoor applications.

A step below PVC is gator board, which has a rigid foam core in the center with wood-fiber veneer on both sides. The veneer is ideal for printing high-quality images, with vibrant colors and crisp text. Gator board is sturdy enough to use in all indoor settings, as well as short-term outdoor settings. It is not waterproof and should not be used outdoors for the long term. Because it is more durable, it usually costs more than foam core.

Foam core is the least durable of the three options. It works well for indoor short- and medium-term applications or when you need a less expensive printed sign.

More Benefits of Gator Signs

Gator board printing offers you the best of all worlds. You get a lightweight sign that you can easily transport to events or display in your business. You also get more durability so your sign can be used over and over again without worrying about dents, warping, or bending. Other benefits of custom gator board signs include:

  • Dense foam core for added stability and strength
  • Scratch resistant surface that won’t get dented or damaged
  • High level of fade resistance so you can keep using your sign
  • Double-sided printing options
  • All sizes available from Signazon’s completely customizable print design center

Design Guidelines

Have a design file ready for print? We recommend that you review the following guidelines before placing your order.
Total File Size With Bleed (H x W):
Finished Prodcut Size (H x W):
Understanding File Setup
Bleed Area Add 0.125in.
Extend your background to fill the full "bleed area." This will make sure you do not end up with white edges when your product is cut.
Finished Project Size What you selected on this page
This is where we aim to cut your final product size.
Safe Zone Inset 0.125in.
Keep all of the important elements of your design-text, logo, icons-inside this area. It's okay for backgrounds and images to run all the way to the bleed area.
What type of files will you accept?
We recommend vector-based .PDF design files. Most major design applications can generate a print-ready .PDF by using the Save As feature and selecting “Adobe PDF.” If you are unable to obtain a .PDF file for your design, the best are those in .EPS or .AI (CS3 or higher) format with all text converted to outlines.
Recommended file types:
Vector-based .PDF, .PS, .PSD, or .EPS. Vector-based Adobe Illustrator .AI
Other accepted file types:
.PNG, .TIF, . BMP, .GIF, or .JPG
