Answer
Our full color Latex printed Vinyl Decals are backed with an aggressive adhesive, which will stick to pretty much anything that is non porous. With that being said, this is not an easily removed decal, since they are meant to withstand any weather & resist fading. They can last up to 5 years outside and even longer under shade. Vinyl Decals come with a protective backing and once removed are ready to bond strongly to the application surface. For larger decals, peeling the backing off in pieces, not exposing all the adhesive at once can make installation more manageable. Once the adhesive touches the surface Vinyl Decals are not meant to be removed until they are no longer needed or if the design needs updating to keep the design current. Therefore, the installer will want to ensure correct placement prior to removing the backing exposing the adhesive. Since these decals are not repositionable and pulling them back up would result in stretching, tearing or the usability of the material. Also being careful the decal does not stick to itself, so having a skillful partner help with installation is always recommended.
When ready to remove the decal, simply loosen the adhesive on the backside by slowly hovering a hairdryer over the decal surface. Careful to not touch the hairdryer directly to the surface, but keeping it an inch or so away to help minimize any damage/cracking to the application surface. Hold the hairdryer over the decal until the adhesive loosens or the edges start to fray, which will then allow the decal to be peeled off the application surface. A plastic blade designed for the specific purpose of decal removal can be purchased at any home improvement store. This tool can help remove the decal by sliding it under the loosened adhesive backing. Squeegees or a plastic credit card is an alternative to help separate the decal from the application surface. Older or larger decals will be a little more difficult to remove. Razor Blades are not recommended for removing decals, since they can risk damaging glass and scratching other application surfaces.
Once the Vinyl Decal is removed it is normal for residue to be left behind, especially older decals might have more stubborn residue. Depending on the application surface, adhesive reside removers can be found in spray or liquid form at any local hard ware store. These will easily breakdown the remaining residue. Once removed, wipe with damp lint free micro fiber cloth with water to remove any remaining chemicals. Now the area is ready to clean and prep for the new decal. Removal of all residue is recommend before applying a new decal to ensure a complete bond with the application surface.
