Install Metal Signs

Thank you for purchasing a metal sign from Signazon.com! We appreciate your business and want to make sure you are given all the directions necessary to help your sign continue to look extraordinary throughout its full life.

By default, metal signs do not come with pre-drilled holes. Each frame is different, making it difficult to ensure that pre-drilled holes would line up correctly with an existing frame. When you receive the sign, you can easily align it with your sign frame and create holes using a standard drill bit and screws. Please note that Signazon.com's Sign Frames do not require signs with drilled holes as they are equipped with clips on the back side that hold the sign in place. Drilled holes and screws simply add extra reinforcement and durability.

Tools Needed:

Protective goggles, 1/4" drill bit, power drill, 4 nuts, 4 bolts, 8 washers, and a marker or pen.

Step 1

Place the metal sign against the sign frame and mark where the holes will need to be drilled.

Step 2

Place the metal sign on a flat, sturdy surface. Carefully drill a ¼” hole into the metal sign. Use the earlier marks from Step 1 as your guide.

Step 3

Once the holes are drilled, place a washer inside the sign frame and against the hole. Position the metal sign against the frame and follow with another washer.

Step 4

Feed the bolt through the hole from the front of the frame, and tighten the nut on the backside of the frame.

There are a variety of ways to use and install metal signs. Drilling holes and mounting your sign to a frame, building, or even fence is best for long-term installations. You can also mount a metal sign to a wall or door using double-sided tape or strong Velcro. Permanent fixtures like Ultra Metal signs can also be installed using sign standoffs.

Care should also be taken with all sign mounting hardware to assure it stays secure. Check periodically to assure the nuts and bolts are tight and no parts are failing.

To prevent dirt buildup, metal signs should be routinely wiped down every 2 weeks to 1 month with a soft, lint-free, dry cloth or duster. If the metal sign requires a deeper cleaning, use a damp, lint-free cloth and gently rub the affected area. Do not use cleaning products or alcohol as these may damage the printing on your sign.
